The magazine SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, in 1981 I belive it was, did an extensive article on the emerging popularity and science of creating THREE DIMENIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS using LASER BEAMS on a special AGFA Film.
You can do incredible CYLINDRICAL Holograms, PROJECTION Holograms, TRANSMISSION Holograms and RELECTION and even RAINBOW holograms.
The technology is mind-boggling. INSIDE the hologram, the OBJECT retains the SAME OPTICAL PROPERTIES as the ORIGINAL object. In other words, if there is a MIRROR in the HOLOGRAM, you can see YOURSELF inside the hologram! IF you have a CYLINDRICAL hologram of, for example. a CAR like I have done here, the LIGHT you use to illuminate the hologram will shine on the areas of the car you are lighing up...like he roof , the hood or the doors etc.

Immediately I began to think of the tremendous potential here to open up a HOLOGRAPHIC PHOTO SHOP and do Holograms on demand for YOU, the people who would like, for example, to do a hologram of a treasured object, toy or Jewellery, or a sentimental gift, or of something perishable like your wedding cake or birthday cake ( SIZE is a problem...the bigger the object, the more difficult and expensive it gets) but you could to scale down holograms of those things and much much more.
Although holograms have many SCIENTIFIC uses, like massive data storage, or detecting tiny CRACKS in AIRPLANE PARTS and more, I was more interested in the BEAUTY a hologram of something you treasure ...a hologram would allow you to enjoy that "treasure" in three dimensions, in different forms and colours, and if its something exremely valuable that you cannot have it on show at home or in the office or busines, you COULD show it off with a HOLOGRAM.
The BIG problem in bringing holograms out to the public consumer level where they should be able to be done CHEAPLY and ACCURATELY with SUPURB QUALITY...is the EQUIPMENT COST. The FILM (AGFA and now other makes like BASF and KODAK) is not expensive, nor are the plastic frames or cylinders...the biggest cost is in the VIBRATION FREE TABLES you need to make a hologram.
It is absolutely imperative - necessary that the table where the object, the laser and the lenses are on is absolutely vibration free - no motion at all. We are not taking a "picture" of an object, we are taking a picture of its LIGHT INTERFERENCE PATTERN....and when you are working on dimensions as ultra SMALL - TINY as the WAVELENGHTS of LIGHT, the LEAST little vibration will RUIN your hologram.
If you have your LASER set up in a strongly built house, its still not good enough...if a small CAR passes in front of your house, the hologram is ruined.
SO...the solution is to buy these PROFESSIONAL LASER TABLES...they can cost HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of DOLLARS.....and this is what makes doing commercial, cheap and affordable holograms difficult - its too costly to have 3 or 4 laser light tables in your shop to produce these holograms.
I began a CRASH course in LASERS and HOLOGRAM projects with Professor T.H. JEONG, Professor of PHYSICS at the UNIVERSITY of LAKE FOREST COLLEGE in Lake Forest, Illinois USA. He is also the DIRECTOR for HOLOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS...and it is there and thanks to him that I was able to learn, know and understand enough about Holography and Lasers in order to INVENT a NEW SYSTEM that, with the right INVESTOR, we could make HOLOGRAPHIC PHOTO SHOPS in every major city in the world, offering FAST, CHEAP and BEAUTIFUL PERSONALIZED THREE DIMENSIONAL Holograms for the general public.

Once I had the idea and the PLAN set for a NEW type of LASER LIGHT TABLE for making holograms, a project and invention that would reduce DRASTICALLY the costs of such tables...and you would need at LEAST three to SIX tables in a shop, I began to consult with specialists in the field, being careful NOT to reveal too much about the invention, ALL of them agreed that my system will WORK!
The NEXT Step was PUBLICITY - to get this fascinating science known, NO ONE on MALLORCA at that time had even HEARD of Holograms for private and personal use in art, decoration, and preservation of treasured or sentimental objects.
The local press and TV here were VERY keen on the subject, they loved the idea and some mentioned that the world of HOLOGRAPHY could CHANGE GRAFIC ARTS forever....these articles speak for themselves.

Along came an article in TIME MAGAZINE about the ROLEX AWARDS for ENTERPRISE...and immediately I set out to make a formal presentation to the foundation of ROLEX to see if there was a chance of getting help and at least publicity for this terrific idea and science.
Here is PART of my presentation that went to ROLEX..almost TWO YEARS LATER, the 1984 book of The Rolex Awards for Enterprise was published and I had the very pleasant surprise to see that my project was published on TWO PAGES in this book...in all of Spain only TWO people got included in this award or recognition at least of a worthy ENTERPRISE.
FINALLY THE BOOK ARRIVES:
I sent a note to the KING DON JUAN CARLOS of SPAIN regarding the recognition in the ROLEX book, and he was so kind as to express his congratulations. What a pleasant surprise it was to recieve an AUTOGRAPHED photo of the King and Queen Sofia and their family. I felt very honoured.
THE EQUIPMENT - THE TECHNOLOGY:
SPECTRA PHYSICS and NEWPORT CORPORATION are the world´s LEADERS in the cutting edge technology in Lasers and laser research, including that of Holography whose uses are sill not all taken advantage of today.
I had the good fortune to connect with some of the top people in those companies who actually supported and helped me with precious and valuable information, tips and questions answered on this fascinating world of parallel coherent in phase beams of light.
The above photo of the DOLL shows you how to do a hologram where, by moving your point of view, the subject or object changes DRASTICALLY its position and aspect ratio. Here is a hologram I have at home that shows you this effect...the photos are very poor because I do not have the correct lighting to photograph this properly...but some of you will recognize this as a HOLOGRAM of the ALIEN MONSTER from ALIEN - the movie.
Here below is an experimental, small laser which is very useful for experimenting.Here, by aiming it directly at the digital camera, the in-phase coherent rays create a pattern done by the CCD (Charged Coupled Device) microchip image wafer that is the heart of the camera. The laser "fools" the CCD into transmitting these effects to the storage flash card or similar.
Here below we have a RAINBOW hologram, although the film is badly scratched from doing many shows and explanations to students, schools and the press over the years.
The ABOVE hand drawn diagram is an addition to my LASER TABLE invention...the above is a system to produce fast CYLINDRICAL holograms on a continuous roll of film. This lends itself to lots of room for experiments and creation of some very interesting LASER LIGHT ARTWORK in 3 Dimensions.
