Puerto Andratx boasts over 70 restaurants to suit all tastes and a comprehensive range of shops ranging from fashion to art to antiques. Palma Airport is only half an hour away by car or taxi. The resort does not have extensive beaches although there is a very small one 200 yards from the apartments, but there are beautiful and extensive beaches 15 minutes away by car. We find this an advantage as the town does not become too congested with tourists.

One Km. from the center of Puerto de Soller, along a small road called Camino de Sa Figuera, which leads into the stone terraced hills and valleys planted with orange trees and ancient olive and carrob trees, is the ancient 'barrio de Sa Figuera', which constitutes of several stone farmhouses with estates of various sizes, mostly huge senorial ones, which of late have been bought up by 'foreigners' and turned into residences for vast sums. So in the first turn off into the valley from the Port, on a small hill in a valley of orange trees etc. stands our house, Ca'n Pages. Our property is surrounded by two (now dry) riverbeds, and therefore is entered by our own bridge with a gate. The driveway up to the parking and garage (which may be turned into a summer guest cottage). (done) A stone stairway to guest house and main house, or continuing a newly made driveway directly to the back of the main house, back door of kitchen. The house is an old stone house, 3 stories, with a room off sort of 'demi-etage'. Upon entering a wide round doorway, is the main room, with high ceiling and beamed ceiling (as are all the rooms).. which is used for dining and living rooms..a multi-use room with a water well in one corner. dining area in the other end. Sofa in center, and even an old upright Steinway piano in the corner. To the left is the kitchen, which is not large by modern standards but enough. it is equipped with a dishwasher, double sink, normally large refridgerator, and the necessary cupboards and a table to seat 4... To the right, down a few stairs is a laundry machine and toilet with sink. Up about 5 stairs is a nice room which is now used as the tv room, but it could contain two single beds also.. it is of medium size. Continuing up the staircase, to the left is the main bedroom. Now there are two beds joined. There are glass doors leading to a outside balcony.. facing the mountainside, and in the other direction past the orange valley to the view of Puerto de soller, and a glimpse of the sea against the rocks . To the right of the stairwell, on the bedroom level is a complete bathroom, with bathtub, shower etc. Not large nor glamorous, but in the style of the house. (It all works). next to the bathroom is another small room, which we will use for storing our personal effcts. and will therefore be closed. Upstairs on the top floor is perhaps the best room of the house as it is one huge space with large windows in three directions, and a small balcony to step out and overlook the panorama, and the pool. At present there is a double bed and two single beds. and one extra double mattress. So that is the main house. Going back out of the main door, there is a patio, half of it is covered for shade, with outside table and chairs for outdoor dining. Also there is a terrace with table and benches at the back of house, (back kitchen door).. for cool afternoons. The front is shaded by the house in the mornings until about 3 pm. (By the way, speaking of cool, there are three airconditioners in the house, just in case, although the stone houses generally stay cool naturally). These also function as heaters in the winter. The pool, is on a terrace just below the covered dining terrace. It is odd shaped, as we had to build it according to the rocks below, it is not a large pool but at the longest stretch it may be about 9 meters .. about 6 meters in one width, with curves. It is fully automatic, and runs and shuts off according to times set on a timer. Of course, the chlorine pellets have to be put in the skimmers every 10 days or so. And it may need vacuuming, so we will arrange for someone, to come and help with maintenance. The guest cottage is just down the garden stairs from the main house and to the side of the pool. It is one room with a complete bathroom. Very pleasant. The property continues of course down many terraces with some fruit trees, now somewhat abandoned as we were away and our gardener has not shown up. but there is plenty of space to roam about in various directions. That is not to say that this place is in isolation.. as I mentioned, our property is surrounded by two riverbeds joining in a point in front, (like a boat), on the other side of the torrentes, on the mountainside are two neighboring stone houses, on the other side across the other torrente, is another stone house (all very pictoresque, and behind us is another stone house. It's generally very quiet, with no sounds of traffic at all. The walk to the Puerto, takes about l5 minutes comfortably.
