More than a few of you, browsing through the pages of this website, might wonder what in heck am I doing with Discotheques, Records, Shows and the like.
Its basically very simple...at 17 my ambitions in life were to become a Pilot and fly planes, and a Radio Personality - doing shows on Pop Radio stations....both objectives have been met, and the work experience in Mallorca in the early 1970´s fit perfectly with my passion for Music....and here is a sample of the results:
Since 1958 I have been collecting popular hit parade records, until
today where we have a vast collection of singles and albums that cover
the popular, country and folk music scene since 1952!

With the various radio stations that I have worked for in the past,
I have also been able to collect a great many hits that today are not available
in the shops. If you are a fan of the "golden oldies", maybe I can help
you obtain information on the songs you are searching for.
This photo above shows the last radio station to broadcast in Mallorca in the English Language 24 hours a day. During 18 years,
the team of Riki Lash gave Mallorca the News, music, sports, humor, contests, games, fun and interviews
in English. The Germans bought 50% of the station in 1999 and all of it as of the 1st of September 2,000.
It is a funny coincidence that the LAST radio program in English was mine - broadcast from 10 pm to
12 midnight on the 31st of August 2,000. Recordings of that show are available for FREE - you supply
the blank cassette!
Tapes of past shows are also available for a modest fee.

1973: Then it was off to GERMANY, 1973, working for the NATO - CANADIAN PX shopping complex as a BUYER
for electronics, rugs, cameras and appliances. It dovetailed well with my passion for electrionic toys!
This was my LIVING ROOM where I lived in Lahr Germany! The system included TWO BOSE 1801 power amplifiers!
While in LAHR Schwartzwald Germany working as a buyer and director for the Sports Department and the
Electronics/Audio dept for the Canadian Forces NATO exchange Stores, I put on for both Canadians and Germans
a rock festival featuring for the FIRST TIME QUADROPHONIC sound!

1973: MALLORCAN MUSIC BEGINNINGS:
In 1973 I set up in the KAISERHOFSTRASSE nº 6 in FRANKFURT GERMANY a DISCO called the "Right ON!" disco....named for the multitude
of Americans based at the NATO air base of Rhein Main in Frankfurt who were always exclaiming "Right on, baby!!".
It was the FIRST disco in GERMANY to have QUADRAPHONIC sound - that is four different sounds coming from 4 different speakers. It was in this Disco that a

1974: My first days in Mallorca began as a "Show - Man" Disc Jockey in Discotheques here in the South West BEACH resorts

1975: Then a new job the following season in 1975 with the PICCORNELL family in PALMA NOVA.
1975 - BORSALINO DISCO MAGALLUF - Terrific FUN!
The above plaque was a farewell gift from my colleagues at Borsalino Discotheque, Magalluf 1977. The
whole thing was a surprise organised by the town photographer, Angel Machado - always a true friend.
That same friend, organised a plaque to comemorate the work I did while running the clubs Borsalino, Magalluf, Charlots Magalluf,
and Candy club Palma Nova.
The reason for all this was that over these few years I worked, starting 1975 in the Borsalino Disco, playing drums, doing
shows, jokes, competitions and special DJ effects...then was promoted to Director of Candy Club Disco in Palma Nova, doing Pulicity, organising
competitions and creating an atmosphere that they had not seen in Palma Nova in years. It was great fun. Charlots disco Magalluf was a whole new
ballgame for Mallorca...the VERY first time there were SPANISH waitresses dressed in PLAYBOY BUNNY costumes! It was a hit. The public and the
press aplauded the new style and ambiamce....unforgettable it was.

1976: I left Borsalino to work in the OIL FIELDS of ALGERIA in HASSI MESSAOUD and GHARDIA as a RIG INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN.
I returned to Mallorca two years later to begin again!
1977: CALA MAYOR - EL GRAN DISCO JAGUAR Right near the BEACH!
Here I had to not only set up a whole new lighting and electronic DJ system , but the
entire "Cabina" or DJ STUDIO had to be moved 1.5 meters towards the CENTER of the DISCO!
I found myself doing soldering, wiring, replacing thyristors and transistors while playing
music and DJ´ing to a rocking crowd!

1979: CHARLOTS DISCO MAGALLUF - The FIRST disco in Mallorca with BUNNY GIRLS! The owners, the PICCORNELL
FAMILY gave me as a gift and publicity aid a PONTIAC GTO CONVERTIBLE!

1980: Then came the FIRST BALEARIC DJ COMPETITION at BRUIXIERS DISCO In INCA - I came in FOURTH over ALL the
Disc Jockeys in the Balearic Islands:

1981: EL PATIO DISCO - SOLLER - 4 HAPPY YEARS IN SOLLER!
Four wonderful years working for the beautiful people of Soller...terrific ambience,
great friends, and I even did work as a PIRATE on the SA FORADADA PAELLA PIRATE CRUISE!

1984: RIU PALACE MACRO DISCO PLAYA DE PALMA:
1984 RIU PALACE DISCO - A macro disco on the Playa de Palma - Palma beach. Owned by Sr. Tolo
Cusarch, the "Disco King" of the Balearics, the money spent on the latest technology was
unlimited. It was a pleasure to work there!

1985: PAGUERA - The Famous DISCO ALEXANDRAS - A WONDERFUL Summer:

1985: I was appointed director for the new disco called ATLANTIS, a name I gave the Piccornell Family
for their new modern disco venture. It was a magnificent sala, with waterfalls and a lighting system that
completely changed colour - of the whole disco! The dance floor were polished MIRRORS. Some girls were afraid
to dance with short skirts on, thinking the guys could see their underwear!

In 1985: I organised a DISCO AID FOR AFRICA fund raiser, with ALL the BEST disc Josckeys from all of
the TOP discos in Mallorca participating to raise money for the Red Cross. Here is the ONLY picture
of that event. The PRESS printed photos of the entracne where the Red Cross were there collecting
the entrance fees.From the KING OF SPAIN to the TOWN HALL of PALMA de Mallorca all participated!

The above is not a disco...its our MUSIC room!
The customized 45rpm record cover used to protect the 10,000 or so
singles in the collection. The earliest 45 rpm single I have dates from
1949 - experimental issue. Some singles are from England with the "small"
hole in the middle, but the majority are the USA-jukebox style with the
large hole in the middle. This particular 45 rpm single has the center
plastic small hole piece that can be snapped out to play on american Juke
boxes or record players that only had the large hole for 45´s. This
particular single is in almost mint condition and is a collector´s
item, as are many others.
